Kinako Mochi

Ingredients

For the Mochi

  • 1 cup glutinous rice flour
  • ¾ cup water
  • 2 tbsp sugar

For the Kinako Coating

  • 3 tbsp kinako (roasted soybean powder)
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • A pinch of salt

Steps

  • Mix glutinous rice flour, sugar, and water in a bowl until smooth.
  • Microwave or cook the mixture on low heat until it becomes thick and sticky.
  • Let the mochi cool slightly, then shape into small bite-sized pieces.
  • In another bowl, mix kinako, sugar, and salt.
  • Coat the warm mochi pieces evenly with the kinako mixture.
  • Serve immediately while soft and chewy.
